We are currently working on a project with commercial partners Optomize Ltd, DeBlur Ltd and xReality Labs Ltd and with The University of Dundee. The project was funded by the British Journal of Anaesthesia, National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia and the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Our overriding objective is to improve thoracic epidural block training. xReality Labs Ltd developed an augmented reality system and created holograms of the vertebral spine. We are training 30 anaesthetists familiar with lumbar epidural block and conducting a randomised controlled trial using eye tracking (Optomize Ltd) to validate the application of AR to training.
